Abstract

In Indonesia, intestinal worms are a public health problem in rural and urban areas. This disease has a big impact on the quality of human resources, but it is a disease that does not receive much attention from the community. Decree of the Minister of Health Number 424/MENKES/SK/VI/2016 concerning guidelines for helminthiasis control. One of the problems of Indonesian public health is worm infection caused by STH. The purpose of the research is to do research with the titlecounseling to elementary school students on behavior in preventing worms at Mis Al-Islamiyah Elementary School, Kwala Air Hitam Village, Selesai District, Langkat Regency. Research methodsquantitative research that is observational with a cross-sectional approach method. The population in this study were all elementary school studentsMis Al-Islamiyah, Kwala Air Hitam Village, Complete District, Langkat Regency. The sample used a total sampling of 30 people. The data obtained through interviews and observations were then processed using a computer, presented in tabular form and analyzed using the chi square test. The results of research on knowledge p value 0.005, attitude p value 0.004 and action p value 0.004. the conclusion of the study there is a relationship between knowledge, attitudes and actions with preventing worms. The suggestion is that it is hoped that students will be given counseling about worms so that students can take better care of themselves from an early age and take deworming medicine every 6 months and wash hands before and after activities from outside and wash hands if they want to eat something.
